All of them that perished were locals of the town of Ramban: official

Srinagar, July 7: A father and son were among the three people killed on Friday after their car crashed and rolled into the Chenab River in the Ramban region of Jammu and Kashmir.

A load carrier travelling from Udhampur to Ramban went off the road and ended up in the river between the neighbourhoods of Mehar and Cafteria Morh in Ramban.

Quickly, the Ramban police, the SDRF, and the QRT Ramban set up a rescue operation.

An official said that despite their best efforts, the vehicle’s passengers had yet to be located.

Three locals were in the automobile, as shown by the seizure of two phones and an identification card belonging to one of the passengers.

Bharat Singh (52), his son Vikram Singh (30), an Army jawan, and Rohit Katoch (17), a class 11 student, have all been reported missing and are believed to have drowned in the Chenab river.

With the river at such a high level, rescuers have little clue as to the positions of the three missing people and the submerged car, complicating the current rescue attempt.
