Jammu, Aug. 26: On Saturday, the Crime Branch-Jammu’s Economic Offences Wing filed charges against a fraudster who had told a jobless youngster that he would assist him get his wife a class-IV government job in Doda.
Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, the son of Ghulam Hassan Bhatt, a native of Qazipora, Chadoora in the district of Budgam, has been named as the culprit.
According to a spokesperson for the Crime Branch (CB), Fayaz Ahmed Bhat was charged with defrauding complainant Amreek Singh, the son of the late BishamberLal of Bakshi Nagar, by promising to secure class-IV employment for his (Amreek’s) wife through the JKSSB in exchange for a payment of Rs 3 lakh.
“A written complaint submitted by Amreek Singh served as the foundation for the instant case, which was opened in the Jammu Police Station Crime Branch. In the complaint, he (the complainant) claimed that Fayaz Ahmed, a government worker in the Civil Secretariat, convinced him that he had good connections and relationships with the JKSSB authorities in exchange for his wife’s appointment as a class-IV employee. As a result, the complainant fell for his trap and was eventually taken advantage of,” the spokeswoman added.
The preliminary investigations were started by CB Jammu against the accused, and when it seemed that the claims were supported, a formal case was filed for a thorough inquiry.
Authorities meticulously investigated the case, took notes on what the complainants and other key witnesses said, confiscated documents, and gathered material and circumstantial evidence against the accused for his role in the crime’s conduct.
“The charge-sheet, comprising 123 pages in case FIR Number 33 of 2022 under section 420 Police Station Crime Branch Jammu was produced in the court of law for judicial determination after allegations of cheating were proved during the Investigation conducted by Crime Branch, Jammu,” a spokesperson said.
