According to official sources cited by the news organisation Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the soldier Javid Ahmad Wani, the son of Muhammad Ayoub Wani and a native of the Asthal neighbourhood of Kulgam, has been missing since previous night.

Last night, he drove his Alto car with the licence plate JK-18B 7201 to the Chawalgam area to get some food. He hasn’t returned to his house since then, they said.

The soldier is assigned to Leh, Ladakh, and has been on leave since Eid al-Azha. According to officials, attempts are being made to find him.

In the meanwhile, the mother of a missing soldier has pleaded to everyone in a video message to let her son return to his family. “My kid is too young and innocent. If my kid has done anything wrong, I beg your pardon. I beg of you all to let my kid come home,” she stated.

To find the soldier, a senior police officer claimed that a large manhunt has been started.
