Rajouri, August 22: Search operations for a missing truck driver began for the second day in a row on Tuesday in and near MunawarTawi in Nowshera, according to joint teams comprised of civilians, members of the police, the army, and the SDRF.

After his vehicle (a truck) overturned at MunawarTawi, which is located close to Nowshera on the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway, the driver vanished without a trace.

The unfortunate truck, which was carrying rice, was travelling from Jammu in the direction of Rajouri when, in the early morning hours of Monday, it went off the road and ended up in the river close to the Nowshera-Dhaliyan stretch of road.

The truck’s driver was the only one inside the vehicle at the time of the collision with another vehicle.

As a consequence of the recent monsoon season, MunawarTawi was flowing at its maximum capacity; hence, it was speculated that the river’s powerful water currents may have carried him away.

“However, for the second consecutive day today, the search operation for the missing driver continued in the area; both upstream and downstream,” authorities added.
