On Tuesday, August 22, a young man passed away after being found dead in the Sindh stream near the Mammar region of Kangan in the Ganderbal district.
An official said that a young man named Zakir Ahmed Thekrey, who was 23 years old, passed away after drowning in a creek in Sindh close to Mammar.
Almost immediately after the tragedy, members of the police and the SDRF, together with volunteers from the community, began a search and rescue effort to recover the corpse of the young person.
“After frantic efforts, the body was retrieved from the Sindh stream,” he claimed. “It had been there for quite some time.”
When word got out about the death of the young person, it cast a cloud of sorrow over the whole neighbourhood.
The event has been brought to the attention of the police. This is the second occurrence of its kind in the last week.
A child who was 15 years old passed away after drowning in a creek in the Wayil region of the Sindh district last week.
