Aug. 23 (Moscow): According to TASS News Agency, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that it had destroyed three Ukrainian drones that had attempted to strike sites in Moscow.

The Russian Ministry of Defence issued a statement saying, “On the night of August 23, air defences thwarted another attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack on Moscow, which involved three aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.” The assault began with three drones; two were shot down by air defences above the Mozhaisky and Khimkinsky districts of the Moscow Region, while the third became disoriented due to electronic warfare and crashed into a building that was still under construction in the Moscow City complex.

The government claims there were no fatalities.

According to TASS News Agency, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin made the allegation on his Telegram account that air defences shot down a drone above the Mozhaisky District in the Moscow Region and that another drone crashed into a building under construction in the Moscow City financial district.

A drone was shot down by air defences in the Mozhaisky District of the Moscow Region, and another drone crashed into a building in the City while it was being built.

Sobyanin further said that response teams had been sent to the locations.

The mayor also said that “preliminary reports” indicated that nobody was hurt.

Earlier today, a TASS News Agency report cited a source in the aviation industry as saying that Moscow’s airports were temporarily closed. On Monday, a separate Ukrainian drone attempted an assault on the Belgorod area of Russia.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the UAVs lost control and fell over the waters of the Black Sea around 40 kilometres (about 25 miles) northwest of the Crimean Peninsula.

The Ukrainian “fixed-wing drones” were allegedly seen by Russian air defences and destroyed.

On Monday, four drones were reportedly intercepted by Russian air defences: two over the Belgorod region and two over the Moscow area, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

According to CNN, the ministry said that there were no injuries and just little damage.

Meanwhile, the governor of the Kursk region in Russia, Roman Starovoit, told the Russian state-run TASS News Agency on Sunday that five people were hurt when a Ukrainian drone crashed onto the rooftop of a train station.
