Two 6.2 earthquakes hit Afghanistan on Saturday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre.

The death toll from the severe earthquakes that struck Herat and other western districts in Afghanistan reached over 2,000 as of the 8th of October, according to the International Association of Earthquake Engineers.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre, two earthquakes in Afghanistan on Saturday each had a magnitude of 6.2. These tremors were felt throughout the country.

In addition to Herat, the provinces of Badghis and Farah are also impacted by this issue. According to reports from the Xinhua news agency, the National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan said earlier that rescue teams had been dispatched to the affected districts.
