Rajouri, September 15 (KNO): Due to severe rain that has been falling since yesterday night, traffic on the national highway connecting Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch has been halted.

The traffic has been redirected to other connection routes, an official informed the news organisation Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said that the major highway in Nowshera was shut down for about a month as a result of the building of a bridge at Rajal Top, and a temporary culvert was constructed to allow for vehicular traffic.

He said that the closure of the roadway at Rajal Top was caused by the makeshift culvert being washed away by the torrential rain that has been falling since yesterday night.

Locals in the vicinity protested in the meanwhile, calling for the roadway to be restored as soon as possible.

The roadway is already being restored, according to officials, although it will likely take several hours.(KNO)
