The 28-year-old rapper made his debut in July 2019 with his first album, Little Kid, Big Dreams, which was produced by legendary producer Sajeel Kapoor aka Sez on the Beat. The rapper co-founded the hip-hop group Koshur Nizam, which has its headquarters in Srinagar. The reviewers called it a “scorching debut” and praised it.

The rapper, however, did not go into greater depth on the decision-making process. Ahmer posted the following message on his Instagram story: “To all the aspiring rappers and those who look up to me: discover love, it’s out there. No one will be there for you except for your family and those who care for you, so take care of them. Do whatever you do for yourself and for the better. Maintain a close circle.

Rukh and ID are two of the most well-known hip-hop songs that Ahmer has put out since 2019. Another EP in his career, titled “Inqalab,” chronicles life in Kashmir during the August 2019 crackdown.

His musical variety was highlighted with the publication of his second album, “Azli,” in 2022. Rolling Stone India listed it as one of the best 15 albums of the year and said of Ahmer: “His voice is as strong as ever, especially because he’s not afraid to show his deepest scars…”

Following Roushan Ilahi, nicknamed MC Kash, who stopped recording music in 2016, Ahmer is the second popular rapper from Kashmir to call it quits. (Ilahi only made a cameo appearance on the single “Kun” from Ahmer’s album Azli.)

Ahmer added in the Instagram story, “Made a lot of mistakes, not perfect, nobody is, but we all learn from them and get better; at the very least, we should try; that shouldn’t stop, that’s life.” “Stay close to God.
