Though the yatra’s attendance has been declining in recent days compared to the first three weeks, that number is expected to grow more in the coming days until the yatra’s conclusion.

Officials estimated that more than 3.65 million yatris would visit the temple last year.

Officials said that this year’s yatris had a better experience due to improved administration and amenities.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 1006 Amarnath Yatris set off from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the Pahalgam and Baltal camps.

Early on Tuesday morning, officials reported that 624 yatris, travelling in 19 cars, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp for Pahalgam, while 382 yatris, travelling in 26 vehicles, left the base camp for Baltal.

Officials stated that when the soldiers were travelling from Srinagar to Jammu along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, they were protected by J&K Police officers and paramilitary troops.
