October 25, Srinagar: The “International Film Festival of Srinagar” (TIFFS) was opened today at Tagore Hall by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Aijaz Asad in an effort to highlight Srinagar City on the international film festival circuit and to honor the renowned Bollywood actor Dev Anand on his 100th birthday.

Over 200 films from 37 countries have been submitted for the TIFFS, which is being organized by RIFK Entertainment in collaboration with Vomedh, a cultural organization. Over the course of two days, on October 25 and 26, the films will be screened at Tagore Hall, with a selection of 17 exceptional feature films, short films, and documentaries.

DC commended the organizers of the Srinagar International Film Festival for organizing it and for accepting qualifying submissions. He believed that these kinds of programs would provide young people in the area a chance to learn about film theory and the craft of acting, directing, and producing, which would encourage them to demonstrate their cinematic abilities on a national and worldwide scale.

He said that Kashmir has continued to serve as a Bollywood production facility and that the locals there are closely linked to the movies.

Additionally, he said that the movies reveal the incredible power of people, which aids in guiding his professional path.

The DC also emphasized the importance of the J&K government’s Film Policy, which was introduced to foster a thriving film industry in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the implementation of the Film Policy 2021 has made it easier, more straightforward, and more rewarding for production companies to get approvals for film production in J&K by using a single-window method.

The Deputy Commissioner also unveiled the brochure for “The International Film Festival” of Srinagar at this event.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who served as the event’s chief guest, along with a plethora of art and movie enthusiasts, including Bollywood producer director B Subhash, festival director Rohit Bhat, advisor Vomedh, Sanjay Saraf, and Bharat Bushan Bhat, all participated in the festive opening ceremony of the second edition of TIFFS.
