Attempt to steal a rifle in Shopian unsuccessful; suspect detained by police

The police reported on Thursday that a plan to steal a firearm was thwarted in the Shopian district of south Kashmir’s Imam Sahib area.

According to a senior police officer, Shahid Ahmad Dar of Trenz Mohanpora attempted to steal a weapon from a police officer near the camp at Imam Sahib. However, the grabbing attempt was thwarted by quick intervention.

The attempt resulted in the capture of the kidnapper.
