Dhaka: According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), there have been over 500 dengue fatalities reported in Bangladesh this year as the South Asian nation struggles with a record-breaking dengue epidemic.

According to information from the DGHS, the Xinhua news agency reported that at least 13 more dengue deaths occurred in Bangladesh in the 24 hours before to 8:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

The DGHS said that 2,070 dengue patients were admitted during the course of 24 hours on Wednesday.

This year’s dengue pandemic has already claimed at least 506 fatalities and infected 106,429 people, making it the worst since the disease’s first reported epidemic in Bangladesh in 2000.

According to data released by the DGHS under the Ministry of Health, 54,597 more dengue cases were registered across the nation during the first 23 days of August, after 43,854 occurrences of the mosquito-borne illness last month.

98,098 people have been discharged from hospitals throughout the nation so far this year, according to DGHS statistics.
