Baramulla, August 14: On the eve of independence day, the security forces and Jammu and Kashmir police prevented a terrible tragedy by finding an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Baramulla-Sringar highway close to Kanispora Baramulla.

A bomb disposal team later successfully defused the discovered IED without any collateral damage.

An official stated that an IED was discovered by a patrolling army and police party near a private college in the Kanispora neighbourhood of Baramulla.

He claimed that shortly after the event, a bomb disposal team was sent to disarm the IEd and the area was sealed off.

“A bag containing the IED was left outside the college. Later, it was detonated without any damage by the bomb disposal team,” he claimed.

In the past, a suspicious bag was discovered by the side of the road in Heeri, Kupwara district, north Kashmir.

one officer reported that “an explosive shell has been recovered from the bag that was later destroyed by the BDS.”
