According to him, the DC of Baramulla has formed a team overseen by the AD commissioner that would include two education department officials, some DC office staff, and a ShutlooRafiabad civil society representative.

Sopore Boys Higher Secondary School has placed the accused teacher on administrative leave and assigned him to the school’s office until the outcome of the investigation, as announced by Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Balbeer Singh.

While discussing the situation in greater detail, the CEO of Baramulla revealed that he had received a complaint from the principal of the Government boys Higher Secondary School ShutlooRafiabad, who had revealed the indecent chats of the accused teacher.

Owais Nanda, a teacher at HSS Shutloo, has been suspended without pay until the outcome of an investigation. According to an order dated August 31, 2023 (vide number CEO/Bla/Estt/T/131104-08), “the said official shall remain attached in the office of the principal BHSS Sopore during the period of suspension.”

On Friday, residents of ShutlooRafiabad, led by representatives of the city’s civil society, protested the ‘immoral activities’ of one of their teachers.

Teachers are seen as nation-builders since it is through their dedication and hard work that pupils are able to find their way in the world. What may happen to pupils if a teacher is engaged in unethical acts like this, questioned an irritated member of ShutlooRafiabad’s civil society.

Another distraught local reported a female instructor at the school confiscated the phone of a female student and informed the school’s administrator of the gravity of the situation.

In the meanwhile, representatives from Shutloo’s civil society met with the deputy commissioner in Baramulla to encourage her to launch an investigation into the event that would lead to concrete findings and help restore public faith.
