On September 21, the Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, visited Naranag and took an overhead look of Gangbal and the surrounding regions before to the annual Harmukh-Gangbal Yatra in the Ganderbal district.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the security plans for the yatra, which will start tomorrow. Along with mingling with the pilgrims, he also spoke with the jurisdictional authorities at Naranag and reviewed the yatra’s plans while being accompanied by SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar. At Naranag Temple and Naranag Spring, the DGP also made offerings. AIG Tech/Commn Manoj Kumar Pandith, Major 34RR Shri Lavesh Kumar, Assistant SP Ganderbal Aijaz Ahmad Malik, SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan, and Assistant Commandant Gagan Singh of the 118 BN CRPF were also present during the meeting at Naranag.

The DGP asked the cops provide thorough details regarding the arrangement made right away when talking with them. The officials in attendance gave the DGP a briefing on the preparations taken to ensure the yatra’s smooth operation.

In order to organise the Yatra successfully, the DGP emphasised maintaining a high level of coordination and demanded that strict adherence to security regulations be enforced for the Yatra in the desired way. He gave the order for the yatris to get every support available.

The DGP gave the officers instructions to personally oversee the preparations and provide the deployed soldiers thorough briefings in their respective en route and base camps. The DGP also gave instructions to improve the information-dissemination and real-time coordination networks. The DGP also examined the services offered to ensure that yatris’ pilgrimages ran smoothly and without incident.

Inquiring about the amenities and preparations on hand, the DGP also spoke with the pilgrims at Naranag base camp. It is noteworthy that the Naranag region of Kangan in the Ganderbal district serves as the starting point for the yearly pilgrimage to the Harmukh-Gangbal, which is located at a height of 3570 metres. After doing Puja at the Naranag temple, worshippers set out on foot for the 15-km trip to Gangabal lake, which is situated in the Harmukh mountain range at a height of around 14,500 feet. The pilgrims track to Gangbal via Butchari and Trunkhal. On reaching, sacred puja is performed on the banks of Gangbal lake following which the pilgrims returns the next day.
