On Tuesday, the fifteen-day “Hindi Pakhwada,” which was hosted by the Central University of Kashmir’s Rajbhasha Cell, got underway at the school’s Green Campus in Ganderbal.

During the Pakhwada’s opening, Director of Research and Development and former I/c Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah praised the administrative staff of the university for their enthusiasm for learning Rajbhasha Hindi and noted that the majority of them had successfully completed all three of the programs—Prabodh, Praveen, and Pragya. According to him, the workforce is now making an effort to communicate with other government agencies and complete official tasks in Hindi. Prof. Shah recommended that people acquire languages other than their mother tongue since doing so would help them communicate with people from diverse cultures.

The Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, spoke at the event and emphasised the need of studying Hindi alongside other national languages. He noted that the language does not belong to any certain faith or group. According to him, the main goal of seeing the Pakhwada is to familiarise the personnel with the Hindi language and how it is used in official communication. He urged the staff to actively take part in the activities planned to mark the Pakhwada. The Parliamentary Committee on Hindi Implementation in Government Institutions will soon be inspecting how the language is used at the university, therefore the staff should prepare for it.

Dr. Sakina Akhter, a Hindi Adhikari, oversaw the program’s activities and notified the attendees of the competitive events—including dictation, letter writing, translation, and Hindi noting—that would take place throughout the time period. She went on to explain the actions made by the Rajbhasha Cell to advance Hindi at the institution.

The inaugural function was attended by the administrative professionals from several departments.
