BANKURA/JAIPUR: According to authorities, two people committed suicide in Bankura, West Bengal, and Jajpur, Odisha, after India’s defeat to Australia in the cricket World Cup final.

After India lost to Australia by six wickets in Ahmedabad on Sunday night, Rahul Lohar, 23, allegedly took the drastic action in front of a movie theater in the Beliatore police station area of Bankura at approximately eleven p.m., according to reports.

According to authorities, Lohar’s brother-in-law, Uttam Sur, reported that he hanged himself in his room after being devastated by the outcome.

According to a police official, his corpse was sent to the Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital on Monday morning for a post-mortem examination. An unnatural death complaint was also filed.

Shortly after the match on Sunday night, another 23-year-old man was discovered hanging from the terrace of his home in the Binjharpur region of Jajpur, Odisha, police said.

According to what his uncle informed the authorities, the deceased, Dev Ranjan Das, was receiving therapy for “emotional disorder syndrome.”

The family member said that he went home in sorrow after India lost the championship. Officer-in-Charge of Jari Outpost Indramani Juanga said, “We have filed an unnatural death case and are awaiting the autopsy report.”
