Kulgam, Aug. 18: A private security guard employed by District Hospital Kulgam was detained on Friday on suspicion of removing Rs 33 lakhs from the Medical Superintendent district hospital Kulgam’s official account, according to authorities.

According to a source who spoke to the news outlet Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a security guard unlawfully withdrew Rs 33 lakhs from the medical superintendent of Kulgam hospital’s official account.

“Medical Superintendent reported the matter to the police after discovering that a sizable sum of money had been taken from his account without his knowledge,” he stated.

According to a police inquiry, the accused security guard, Gowhar Ahmad Thokar, son of Abdul Rashid and a Souch Kulgam resident, routinely withdrew money from the medical superintendent’s account.

He has been accused of forging, using fraudulent papers, and cheating, an official said.

A police officer has now verified the occurrence and said that a case has been opened against him under FIR number 148/2023 under sections 467, 468, and 471 IPC, and that all of the money has been recovered from his procession—(KNO)
