Body is found after 12 hours after a non-local drowns in the Jhelum River

On Monday morning in Sopore, north Kashmir, authorities pulled the corpse of a non-local inhabitant from the Jhelum River, according to officials.

According to an official, the authorities were able to pull Surendar Prasad, a non-local resident of Babhanauli Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, out of the Jhelum River following a 12-hour rescue effort.

Surendra unintentionally drowned on Sunday night in the Jhelum River near Bohripora in Sopore. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and J&K Police joined forces shortly after the disaster to commence the rescue attempt, which was still ongoing late yesterday night.

The corpse was successfully retrieved out of the river this morning after the rescue effort was renewed.The official further said that the corpse had been transported to the hospital for the requisite procedures, both legal and medical.
