In a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (independent charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, provided the above information.

Jammu, August 3: Over the last five years, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed 135 cases, 10 of which have been filed in Jammu and Kashmir, against different officials of the Civil Service.

Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (independent charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, responded to a query in the Rajya Sabha with the above information in writing.

Up till June 30, 2023, the CBI recorded 135 cases, either formal cases or preliminary investigations, against different Civil Service personnel, according to the Union Minister.

Only 57 of these 135 instances have had charge papers filed in the appropriate courts.

According to the Minister, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has recommended disciplinary action against 12,756 officers at First Stage Advice and 887 Officers during Second Stage Advice during the last five years (i.e., 2018–2022).

From this, 719 officers had their requests for sanction of prosecution granted.
