CEO J&K releases a draught reservation plan for 77 communities, according to local body surveys

September 5, Srinagar: Tuesday saw the release of a draught reservation proposal for 77 urban local bodies in the Union Territory by the Jammu & Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer.

The CEO of J&K announced the proposal for ward reservations for women, schedule castes, and schedule tribes in the ULBs, according to a notice, which was carried by the news outlet Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

According to the announcement, comments and recommendations about the plan may be sent to the CEO’s office during the following seven days.

In Srinagar Municipal Corporation, 25 wards would be reserved for women, while in Jammu Municipal Corporation, 25 wards would be reserved for women, 10 for Schedule Castes, and two for Scheduled Tribes.

This year’s municipal elections in Jammu and Kashmir are anticipated to take place in October or November.
