Miran Sahib, September 4: JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani stated today that change is in the air in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that the failures, arrogance of power, and unmet promises by the BJP with the people, particularly the young, had resulted in widespread anger towards the BJP in the Jammu area.

A news statement said that Wani, along with working president Raman Bhalla and other top party officials, spoke at a meeting today to welcome many BJP leaders, including more than a dozen Sarpanchs and 100 Panchs headed by BDC Chairman Daleep Kumar, into the party. The PCC head claimed the growing support from members of other parties, including the BJP, “strengthens our claim that people want change and look towards congress as a secular democratic alternative at the Centre and in J&K.”

Though he welcomed the newcomers, Wani poked fun at the BJP by saying that the future events will throw their shadows on the present. There is discontent among the ranks of the BJP as they sense defeat looming, particularly with the coalition of the main opposition parties known as the INDIA alliance. According to him, the results of the 2019 elections show that the BJP-led NDA received 37% of the vote, while the INDIA coalition as a whole received roughly 63%.

According to him, the public’s disapproval of the BJP is at an all-time high right now because of the party’s “jumlas” and “unfulfilled promises,” as well as the widespread theft of public funds to benefit friends and family at the expense of average citizens. Even on minor topics, like the elimination of toll fee at Sarore and smart metres, the people of Jammu observed a full Bandh and staged large rallies, but the haughty government and the BJP refused to budge.
