Srinagar, August 17: A team from the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCIK) met with the Director of Industries, the Director of Handicrafts, and the Commissioner of the SMC for a series of talks.

President Tariq Ghani, Jr. Vice President Aijaz Ahmad, Joint Secretary M.M. Hussain, and Treasurer Imran Nazir met with Commissioner SMC, Mr. Athar Amir Khan (IAS), who was praised for his dedication to improving the city’s aesthetics.

A majestic “Ghanta Ghar” (Clock tower) representing the city’s great tradition was just inaugurated, and the group wanted to express their deep gratitude to the SMC Commissioner for doing so. The President once observed that the city is made more beautiful by the presence of the clock tower since it serves as a continual reminder of our nation’s history.

It’s a symbol of our shared commitment to preserving our heritage while also moving forward with the times. According to the President, the clock tower has quickly become a popular destination and the site of several public activities. Our city’s rich past and bright future are both reflected in the unwavering presence of this clock tower. It represents our common values and dedication to ensuring that our history is protected for future generations. The group praised the official for his work to improve Lal Chowk, the city’s commercial hub. He said that the city had reached a tipping point because Lal Chowk had become a landmark and that visitors to the area were flooding the market. The delegation thanked the officer for the quick turnaround on the landscaping.

Mr. Mahmood Shah, director of industries and handicrafts, met with the team, and they discussed a wide range of topics. Mr. Shah listened patiently to the delegation and promised his full support to the group. The President has made it clear that the preservation and revival of traditional arts and crafts is a high priority because of the vital role they play in preserving our national identity.

The group also met with Mr. Raja Yaqub, the director of tourism, to address a range of tourism-related topics. The President has asked that the Director of Tourism renew all of the hotels’ registrations as soon as possible. Dodhpathri and Ahrabal have been revitalised as top tourist sites, and the President has praised the Director of Tourism for his efforts. The group said that many visitors visit the valley, but their convenience is compromised by the Yatra-related limitations on their freedom of movement. The Director of Tourism acknowledged the problems and pledged his full support. According to the President of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIK), the region’s booming tourism industry is a testament to Kashmir’s untouched natural beauty and enticing charm. He believes that travel may help people of different cultures understand one another and appreciate one another more deeply. To emphasise the significance of welcoming visitors from all walks of life and expanding our horizons, the President proposed observing a Grand Tourism Day.

Businesses, communities, and governments with a stake in the tourist industry may demonstrate their dedication to the sector’s success by participating in tourist Day. Tourists and locals alike would benefit from special events, discounts, and cultural displays aimed at bringing people together and increasing their understanding of the world around them. The President proposed rallying all interested parties, from locals to companies to tourists, to support the creation of a Tourism Day and take part in its commemoration.
