The event’s main guest will be Dr. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, who serves as LG Sinha’s advisor and is also the Chancellor of the University of Jammu.

“The Community Radio founded in the University of Jammu is a realisation of the new idea in broadcasting in India, and it is the first of its type in the history of J&K. The initiative aims to support the growth of the socioeconomic and cultural fabric of the area, to offer information, education, and entertainment, and to disseminate information about government policies and programmes generally as well as university activities and programmes in particular, according to Prof. Rai.

The radio, according to him, would serve as a “medium to promote, propagate and disseminate the poly vocal and polylingual voices of various stakeholders of the University and act as a site of exchange for various ideas culminating in motivating the people to participate in the national endeavour for integrated development of the country,” he said.

According to Prof. Rai, “The University of Jammu is celebrating its foundation day on September 5, 2023, feeling honoured with the coincidence that this falls on Teachers’ Day – the day Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, our second President, and the most well-known and influential Indian thinker, was born.”

The Vice-Chancellor noted the accomplishments of the varsity and expressed his encouragement that the University of Jammu’s name has grown beyond its local and geographic confines. “It is currently known for being one of the few most sought-after colleges in the nation. The University of Jammu’s position in academic leadership has been redefined as a result of the UGC’s recent designation of the institution as the nodal university to guide the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

He said that this followed the University’s newly introduced, highly praised innovative initiative “Design Your Degree,” which was on display during the two-day Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam-2023 at IECC, Pragati Maidan. 29th of July 2023, New Delhi. praised as a realistic representation of NEP-2020’s core principles.

“Through flexibility of learning, project-based pedagogy, a cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach, and creative empowerment established in conjunction with professionals across a broad spectrum, this unique four-year degree course provides an innovative and future approach to education. This initiative is really in line with NEP-2020 since it places a strong emphasis on the holistic development of young minds and lays the stage for cross-disciplinary learning, according to Prof. Rai.

He explained that the University of Jammu was leading a special and innovative project called “College on Wheels” or “JK Gyanodaya” through which it is anticipated that about 800 students and 100 faculty members from various Universities in J&K would travel. This project is one of many initiatives planned by the Higher Education Council, J&K Government.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that “this Foundation Day is a rallying call to unite all the stakeholders—students and scholars; staff; alumni; teachers; and the civil community—to come together as we trace our past through our collective contribution, dedication, professionalism, and ownership and embrace our future through collective and constructive efforts.”
