Rajouri: The crucial road connection linking Treru and other areas of the Kalakote sub division with Khawas tehsil headquarters has been blocked for the last 28 days.

The road was stopped when a piece of it was destroyed by a landslip. The road rehabilitation project was started three days ago and has not yet produced a fruitful outcome. People from the whole Khawas tehsil used to travel down this route to go to Teryath tehsil, Kalakote sub division, or even Jammu. The road is part of the Pradhan Mantri Gramme Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), and it links the Khawas tehsil headquarters with Treru Moughla of Kalakote sub division.

According to the locals, the whole Khawas tehsil is impacted by the viral road connection that has been closed for the last 28 days.

Locals Lucky Thakur and others said that without access to transit, the whole tehsil region lacks several essential amenities and services.

They pleaded with the government to take swift action to repair the mentioned road as soon as possible.

The villagers said, “Two days ago, PMGSY began work on the restoration of the road, and a temporary track was built, but work has been left unfinished and no further work has been carried out.”
