There will be a Badalta Jammu Kashmir photography and videography contest, as well as contests for singing the national anthem, taking a selfie with a tiranga, drawing a portrait of a freedom fighter they like, and writing an essay about India’s centenary of independence.

During the announcement of these contests, the Chief Secretary also introduced the new logo for DIPR, which better reflects the department’s goals and priorities in light of technological and other developments since the previous design was created.

Joint Directors, Deputy Directors of DIPR, and other executives of the Department were present, as well as Commissioner Secretary, Information, Prerna Puri; Director Information, Minga Sherpa; and others.

Dr. Mehta, speaking to the officers following the inauguration ceremony, praised the DIPR for initiating these competitions with the stated goals of honouring the liberation spirit and promoting patriotism and solidarity among residents. He said that such competitions were a great opportunity to honour the country’s forebears and include the general populace in the celebration of the country’s extraordinary growth.

The Chief Secretary requested that officers include Mitti Yatras from Panchayats and the “selfie with Mitti of village with earthen “Diya” in hand” competitions into the central themes of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign. In addition, he told them to get the word out about the Shilaphalakam erecting ceremonies held in each Panchayat to recognise the sacrifices and contributions of Veers and inspire a sense of patriotism among UT residents.

He said that DIPR’s conception of the topic “Badalta Jammu Kashmir” was both current and fitting, and he urged people to enter the photography and videography competitions held under that banner with enthusiasm. He suggested to the officials in charge that the contestants be invited to record on film the most striking changes they have seen in J&K’s growth and other social sectors over the last several years.
