Director RDD tours B'la; takes stock of different projects under SBM-G, MGNREGA

Tells people to speed up their work to get things done on time.

Tuesday, September 2: Shabir Hussain Bhat, who is the Director of Rural Development (RDD) in Kashmir, went on a long trip of the Baramulla district today. He looked at the different development projects being done under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen (SBM-G) and MGNREGA programmes, which are funded by the central government.

At the start of his visit, the Director looked at the Solid Waste Segregation Sheds and other parts of SBM-G in block Pattan. During this time, the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Baramulla, Gulzar Ahmad Khan, told him about how the work plan was being carried out.

He also took a look at the Plastic Waste Management Unit that was being built in Palhallan. He told the people in charge to speed up the work so that it would be done within the time limit.

The Director also looked at a number of other SBM programmes, such as Community Sanitatry Complexes (CSC) and Community Soakpits, in different parts of the district to get a first-hand look at how they were going.

Bhat was happy with how far SBM-G had come and how well it was doing. He also praised the employees for working hard to reach saturation in the identified measures.

In the meantime, the Director also went to look at Amrit Sarovar sites being built in different places through MGNREGA. Assistant Commissioner of Development in Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad Hakak, gave him an update on how things were going. The Director told everyone to use all the tools they had effectively so that all the goals could be met on time.

Later, the Director went to the RDD complex in Baramulla. There, he took a look at how the different areas were running and told the officials that they needed to work hard and with passion to make sure that public services were delivered smoothly and quickly. He also said that the work culture in RDD’s subordinate offices needed to be streamlined and improved so that the people could be held accountable and know what was going on.
