Sopore, August 16: In honour of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 77 years of independence, district Police Sopore today organised a plantation drive as part of the current “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” campaign.
SSP Sopore habir Nawab, SDPO Sopore Raies Ahmad, and DYSP DAR Dr. Hilal Ahmad were joined by other officers and officials of the police to plant many seedlings on the grounds of the district police lines at Tulibal Sopore as part of the initiative.
While commemorating the tremendous sacrifices of freedom fighters and soldiers for the cause of nation, SSP emphasised the need of citizens feeling a sense of pride and responsibility towards the environment. He emphasised the importance of the police in spreading the message of the “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” campaign and urged the officers to do everything in their power to do so. Several police officers and officials took part in the effort by planting trees all around the DPL’s grounds.
