The famous cricket player Parvez Rasool was the guest of honour. The ceremony was opened by Dr. Nighat Fatima, principal of Delhi Public School Anantnag, who emphasised that people’s physical imperfections are no reason to discount their abilities. Disabled children are just as competent as any other child. They need access to resources and social approval.

Parvez Rasool said that since every person has some skill or talent, they all have an obligation to work towards the betterment of society and fellow humans in order to create a more desirable global community. Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education Kashmir’s personnel and administration deserve praise for their efforts to help disabled children’s social, economic, and emotional growth. Rasool honoured the recent Zaiba Aapa Institute of inclusive education graduates from Anantnag, Pulwama, and Shopion by presenting them with certificates of achievement.

Humanitarian aid group Helpline’s honorary chairman, Javed Ahmad Tak Bijbehara said that calling a person with a disability “specially abled,” “differently-abled,” or “Divyang” does not improve their status in society but instead urgently generates an identity dilemma.

The first thought that should go through the mind of an able-bodied individual should be one of gratitude to God. People with impairments, however, should be given the chance to show what they’re made of. There is no such thing as an inferior or superior person, thus we should all treat one another with compassion and humility.

There was also a cricket match between two league teams comprised of visually impaired individuals; the Blind Tigers and the Blind Lions. The game was won by the Blind Lions.
