Thursday, October 19, 2016 (ANI): Union Minister Jitendra Singh told the officers of the Jammu and Kasmir Administrative Services that they no longer need to work in separate departments and should instead take a "whole of government" attitude.

The 15th of October, Katra: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology (Independent Charge); Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office; Minister of State for Personnel; Minister of State for Public Grievances; Minister of State for Pensions; Minister of State for Atomic Energy; and Minister of State for Space, voiced worry today over the spread of drug addiction even to the Reasi area and the holy destination of Katra Vaishnodevi.


The minister expressed his dismay at the information he had received indicating an increase in the number of instances of teenage drug addiction in this area.

Over the course of the previous two days, the Minister conducted review sessions on the topic with the local government as well as law enforcement organisations.

Dr. Jitendra Singh made a plea to parents and the local authorities to help wean children off of narcotics. He said that the children’s potential must be used in order to fulfil the goal of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to make India a developed country by the year 2047. He emphasised the need to preserve the holiness of the city of Katra and use it as a model for upholding moral and ethical standards in all aspects of society.

According to the Minister, a comprehensive strategy to combat drug addiction is now being developed at the level of both the local government and the societal level. According to the information provided by him, hotspots will be identified, and efforts to raise societal awareness will be made to combat the threat.
In order to commemorate the Navratra festival, the Central Bureau of Communication in Jammu, which is under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, opened a multimedia exhibition in Katra. Dr. Jitendra Singh made these remarks when the exhibition was inaugurated.

The Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Katra is hosting an exhibition that will run for a whole week, and the topic of the event is “9 Years of Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan.” The exhibition runs concurrently with the Navrata Festival, which takes place in Katra.

Shri Ghulam Abbas, Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) in Jammu, said in his speech that the bureau has been working to raise public knowledge about various government projects and programmes. He went on to say that the exhibition that is taking place today is a component of the efforts being made to get the message to the grassroots level.
