The government directive states, “Sanction is accorded to the extension of Dr. Yasmeen Ashai’s tenure as Director Colleges, HED J&K, for a period of one year from the date of her last tenure as Director Colleges has expired or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

The Government Order number 248-JK (HE) of 2021, dated August 4, 2021, states that the terms and conditions of the extending period will be the same.
Interestingly, Dr. Yasmeen Ashai was chosen for the position based on the suggestions of the selection committee that had been established in May 2021. She was appointed as Director, Colleges HED J&K, in August 2021.

In order to choose the director of colleges for the Higher Education Department (HED) in 2021, the J&K government established a high-level committee.

The administrative secretary HED served as the committee’s chairman and the special secretary HED as a member secretary, overseeing the six-member group.
The administration took action and formed a committee for the first time in HED’s history to choose the director of colleges. It was a departmental issue in the past.
