Srinagar, February 24: On Saturday morning, the world lost renowned psychologist and educator Prof. Abdul Gani Madhosh.

He has previously served as the Director of the State Resource Centre (SRC) and the Dean and Head of School Education and Physical Education at the University of Kashmir (KU).
He had his Nimaz-e-Jinazah at his Srinagar mansion around 10:30 in the morning.


Notable for his work in education policy and planning on a national and state level, Professor Madhosh was also a respected social scientist and psychologist.


After graduating from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), he spent over 17 years leading the Department of Education as its Dean and Head.

As a professor, Madhosh continued to serve as head of many departments, including SRC, PE, and counseling.

For KU, he was the dean of the faculty of informal education.

Among Prof. Madhosh’s many publications is a Kashmiri-language book titled “Nafsiyat.” He also founded the School of Education’s Insight Journal.

He authored over a hundred articles and translated many books between Kashmiri and English.

Over fifty students completed their M.Phil. and PhD under Professor Madhosh’s tutelage.

“A. G. Madhosh’s City School” was founded after he retired in 2001.

A diverse group of individuals, including many in the academic and scientific communities, have expressed their condolences and paid their respects to the deceased.

Heartfelt condolences pouring in from Prof. Madhosh’s students and colleagues inundated the social media platforms. Many credited their personal and professional progress to his tutelage.
