On September 18, nominations will be scrutinised, and on September 20, candidates may withdraw their papers. All 26 seats will be up for election on October 4, from 8 AM to 4 PM, and the results will be tallied on October 8.

All electoral procedures will be finished prior to October 11.

The Ladakh UT administration reserved the “plough” emblem for the National Conference party in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, elections in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling.

The notification states: “The symbol “Plough” is hereby reserved for the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Party for the upcoming elections to the 5th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil. This is in accordance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order dated 06/09/2023 in Civil Appeal No. 5707 of 2023 (SLP No. 18727 of 2023).

Earlier, National Conference candidates in council elections were considered as Independent candidates and given various party insignia instead of the “Plough,” which is the symbol of the party in Jammu and Kashmir.
