On Monday, the Court of Adjudicating Officer, Additional District Magistrate Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, fined many food business operators a total of Rs 93000 for breaking various sections of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FS&SA) in Kupwara.
During the hearing of instances involving violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 in many different blocks of Sub Division Handwara, the adjudicating officer levied fines against the culpable merchants.
The adjudicating officer further cautioned them to follow the law, stating that in the future, more severe consequences would be meted out to food company owners in the Sub Division Handwara who did not comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act and laws thereunder.
It is important to note that the adjudicating officer has ordered the relevant enforcement agency to take strict action against the offenders in accordance with the FSS Act of 2006 to ensure that customers are supplied with healthy and safe food.
