In Srinagar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the police had made exceptional security measures for the Muharram processions and that they had been exceedingly peaceful thanks to the cooperation of the people.

All was quiet. Vijay Kumar, who was in charge of overseeing Thursday’s Muharram parade in Srinagar, told reporters that the crowd remained cooperative the whole time. The level of security we had put in place was unprecedented.

He said that police were stationed along the route around 2:00 a.m. to keep the march calm.

To that end, he stated, “On Wednesday, I presided over a review meeting of all security agencies in this connection.” To a great extent, “Shia brothers also cooperated.”

Srinagar’s top cop, Rakesh Balwal, assured the public that the city has taken “three-tiered security arrangements” to ensure the tranquilly of the city’s Muharram parade.

“There were extensive security arrangements for the successful and peaceful conduct of the Muharram procession,” he stated. The human race worked together, too. We’re grateful that the procession went off without a hitch along all of the predetermined routes.

The SSP said that this year’s Muharram parade in Srinagar was the first to be permitted in almost three decades, and that it was also the most peaceful.

Muhammad Aijaz Asad, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar, referred to the orderly and peaceful passage of the 8th Muharram procession through Srinagar as “one of the dividends of peace.” The fact that everything was amicably resolved makes us glad. The DC said, “The Shia community cooperated very well on the occasion.” We took all the necessary precautions to ensure the parade went off without a hitch. All available resources, including personnel and equipment, were sent by the government. People deserve our praise when they behave correctly.
