In response to her statement, police also found weapons and ammo in a woodland area.

26 Assam Rifles and the 3rd Bn. CRPF participated in the operation on Friday, according to SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma.

In a statement released here, he said that they had established a roadblock in the adjacent Dardgund hamlet after receiving information about the movements of a “hybrid terrorist.”

Rishi attempted to run away when he noticed the Police but was “tactfully apprehended.”

He claimed to be travelling to Pazalpora to pick up weapons and ammunition from Muneera Begum, who was also detained, according to the police, Sharma added.

He said that the suspect was on his way to pick up a stockpile of weapons and ammunition while in contact with handlers in Pakistan. “The same was going to be used to revive terrorism.”

Sharma said that they discovered a gun, a magazine, eight bullets, and other evidence on him.

“Rishi then revealed that he was travelling to Muneera to acquire a stash of weapons. A Krinkov AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 bullets, and a pen pistol were also discovered in the neighbouring wooded area, according to Muneera Begum’s declaration.

Sharma said, “It was intended for Shafayat Rishi. She also admitted to having been to Pakistan twice. Shafayat had ties to Al-Badr and afterwards Hizbul Mujahideen.

In addition, 14 individuals were murdered in the Kothibagh IED explosion in 2000, including 12 police officers, according to Sharma.

He said, “He also participated in the 2009 burning of an army vehicle in Sumbal.

Sharma said that they were in touch with Pakistan-based handler Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, who had crossed over in 1999 and was working to revive terrorists in the district.

“Shafayat Rishi also admitted that he was about to receive 4.7 million rupees for the revival of terrorism. Later, this money was to be handed over to someone as per the requirement and directions of his handler Mushtaq Ahmad Mir,” he said.
