Srinagar, September 26: In a significant development for exporters in the region, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has reinstated the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries’ (KCCI) Certificate of Origin certification authority.

This success comes after KCCI was reinstated to the list of organisations authorised to provide export certificates.

Greater Kashmir reports that KCCI President Javid Tenga spoke with the publication to discuss the chamber’s proactive effort to find a solution to the crisis.

Since “we were delisted through no fault of our own,” Tenga stated, “we used our good offices to advocate for the reinstatement of the Certificate of Origin.” Since the DGFT said that they had sent KCCI 14 notifications of onboarding, we brought the matter to their attention. They asked us how we found out about the delisting, and we informed them that we had received no notifications of any kind. Authorities from the DGFT confirmed the claim to be true.

He assured the audience that the KCCI has continued to issue certificates of origin to exporters during this period with no problems arising from the de-listing.

Certificates of origin are essential in international commerce since they verify the country of origin of exported products.

Chambers and councils recognised by the DGFT are authorised to grant these certifications.
