Four drug dealers were apprehended in Rajouri on August 29. A shipment of a drug with similar effects to heroin was confiscated from them.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarter Rajouri Mudassir Hussain, SHO Rajouri Aejaz Ahmed Wani, and PSI Sahil Bhagat, as well as members of the 225th field regiment of the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were on naka duty near the Abdullah bridge of town when they spotted three suspicious individuals.

Trio were put to frisking and 7.5 Grammes of Heroine like substance was recovered from Mohammad Ishitiaq @Chotu Malik son of Mohammad Zafar Malik resident of Malik Market Rajouri, 5.5-6 grammes of Heroine like substance was recovered from Wasim Choudhary son of Mohammad Rafiq resident of Katarmal Rajouri whereas 3.5 grammes of Heroine like substance was recovered from Mohammad Arif son of Mohammad Raqib resident of ward 4, DC colony Rajouri.

According to FIR No. 414/23 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act, three suspects have been apprehended.

In a separate operation, a squad of police apprehended Rajesh Kumar, son of Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Rathal Chowdhury Nar, at Rathal due to his suspicious behaviour. He was charged in case FIR 415/23 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act after police found six grammes of a heroin-like substance in his hands.

Many known drug peddlers have been held under preventative parts of the law, and SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh has said that the police in the district are taking all feasible efforts to curb drug selling.

He said that the police, together with other government and non-government players such as the civil administration, are working on therapeutic measures to help young addicts recover.
