Four people are charged by Crime Branch Jammu in a case involving a phoney job scam

Jammu, September 18 – The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against four suspects who were engaged in a phoney employment scam and defrauded jobless young people out of Rs 41.90 lakh after promising to provide them government jobs.

The chargesheet was submitted in case FIR No. 09/ 2014 U/S 420,465,467,468,471,120-B/RPC P/S Abdul Rashid Pandit, Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, Mohd Ayub Mellu, and Mohd Azam Mellu, according to a statement given to the spokesman.

According to the statement, the case was opened in Jammu’s Crime Branch on the basis of a written complaint from Mohammad Ayub Melu, who is now one of the accused. In the complaint, he claimed that he and other residents of Poonch had met the accused individuals, who had convinced them that they were needed in various departments for Class-IV positions by posing as respectable and influential people.

It states that after the payment, it was discovered that the defendants were nothing more than con artists who had cheated the complainant and other others in a similar situation out of their hard-earned money.

“In accordance with customary process, a preliminary verification was started, the claims were prima facie proven, and the present case was then registered for a thorough inquiry. A pertinent document was taken, and witness statements were recorded.

It further said that four defendants were found guilty of defrauding 53 jobless youngsters of Rs. 41.90 lakh based on scientific and other tangible evidence.

It states that more inquiry is being conducted in order to gather more information and completely expose this pervasive employment scheme.
