On 20th September, the 15th meeting of the District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) was held in Ganderbal under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ganderbal, Shyambir, who also serves as the District Magistrate, to discuss the efforts of law enforcement to reduce drug abuse and narcotics trafficking in the area.

Meeting attendees hardly discussed the last NCORD meeting’s directives to combat the district’s drug problem. At the conference, those in charge shared their plans for making the Ganderbal area drug-free. Drug addiction rates, regions of concern, and drug usage hotspots were all examined at length.

In addition to holding awareness camps and road shows about the misuse of cannabis, poppy, and other psychotropic substances in various areas, the DC has ordered all concerned officers to increase the destruction of such restricted crops by involving locals.

The progress of installing CCTV cameras and computerised invoicing by retail medical establishments in the region was also discussed.

The Assistant Drug Controller has been instructed to enforce the installation of CCTVs in all pharmacies and the implementation of computerised billing systems in all pharmacies. Concerned departments exchanged statistics about activities carried out during the Nasha Mukt Panchayat campaign, and the meeting also assessed the campaign’s current status in the district.

SSP Nikhil Borkar, ADC Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, CEO Tehsildars, Dy SP HQ, CAO DSWO, Assistant Drug Controller Ganderbal, and other officials were present during the meeting.
