Good news for workers: the DA has just been raised. Learn the specifics of the recently issued order to raise the dearness allowance

Pay Scale According to the Sixth Pay Commission State employees on the sixth pay range will now get a dearness allowance of 9% of their base wage. There have been orders made to this effect. The new directive sets the effective date of the higher dearness allowance rate at January 1, 2023. The dearness allowance rate has increased from 212% to 221%. Starting in August 2023 (the payment month), government employees will get a dearness allowance.

Pay Scale According to the Sixth Pay Commission The state government will pay the arrears in three equal payments in the months of October, November, and December 2023, covering the period from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023. Retired or dead government employees will receive the arrears amount in a single payment between January 1 and June 30 of 2023. Any amount of dearness allowance that is less than 50 paise will be omitted, and the rate will be rounded up to the next rupee.

For tax or other purposes, the Dearness Allowance cannot be considered pay. The state government has also instructed that the cost of paying government employees their dearness allowance for the year not exceed the allotted amount in the department’s authorised budget.
