Greek President awards Grand Cross of the Order of Honour to PM Modi

On Friday in Athens, Greece, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour, adding another achievement to his resume.

PM Modi visited the president of Greece, Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou, during his daylong official visit to Greece, and presented him with the Grand Cross.

“A unique accolade demonstrating the strength of the connection between Greece and India. The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour was awarded to PM @narendramodi by @PresidencyGR Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou, according to a tweet from the ministry’s press secretary, Arindam Bagchi.

Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece conducted delegation-level discussions.

In 1975, the Order of Honour was founded. Only The Righteous Should Be Honoured is written underneath a picture of the goddess Athena’s head on the front of the Star.

The President of Greece awards Prime Ministers and notable individuals who, as a result of their illustrious positions, have contributed to raising the prestige of Greece with the Grand Cross of the Order of Honour.

The citation reads, “An honour is bestowed upon the friendly people of India in the person of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Additionally, it reads, “On the occasion of this visit, the Greek State Honours the Prime Minister of India, a statesman who has relentlessly pushed for his nation’s worldwide influence and who works methodically for India’s economic success and prosperity, enacting ambitious reforms. a statesman who has elevated climate change and environmental protection to the top of the priority list for international action.

It has also been acknowledged that PM Modi made a major contribution to the strategic advancement of friendship between Greece and India in areas of shared interest.

It was a pleasure to meet President Katerina Sakellaropoulou in Athens. We spoke about a number of topics that will improve relations between Greece and India. We also spoke about how to encourage sustainable growth. She complimented India on Chandrayaan-3’s achievement, PM Modi wrote on X.

The Greek president complimented PM Modi on the accomplishment of India’s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission during their meeting.

“The success of Chandrayaan-3 is not only a triumph for India, but also a success for all of humanity… The findings of the data gathered by the Chandrayaan-3 mission would benefit the whole scientific community as well as humanity, according to PM Modi.

PM Modi paid respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens today to mark the start of his trip to Greece. Later, he was presented with a formal guard of honour.

In the previous 40 years, PM Modi is the first Indian prime minister to go to Greece. In 1983, India’s last prime minister paid a visit to Greece. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the prime minister of Greece, travelled to New Delhi in 2019.

India and Greece have strong cultural links that have become stronger in recent years because to collaboration in fields including marine transport, military, commerce, investment, and interpersonal relations.
