Srinagar, December 18: On Monday, the minimum temperature in some parts of Kashmir increased slightly, but the Gulmarg ski resort in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir remained below freezing. The Meteorological Department (MeT) forecasted mostly dry and cold weather in J&K through December 22.

According to MeT authorities, December 23rd weather is forecast to be mostly overcast with a chance of light snowfall on isolated upper levels.

They said that from December 24 to December 28, there will likely be mostly dry weather.


According to MeT authorities, “there isn’t any significant weather activity overall until December 28.” “The temperature was 3.2 degrees Celsius below normal at the ski resort of Gulmarg, with a low of minus 8 degrees Celsius compared to minus 4.8 degrees Celsius the night before,” the MeT authorities said.

It was reported that the lowest temperature in Srinagar was 0.5 degrees Celsius, which was 2 degrees Celsius above usual and up from minus 0.5 degrees Celsius the night before.

According to MeT authorities, the previous night’s low in Pahalgam in Anantnag was minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, while the health resort in south Kashmir recorded a low of 1.4 degrees Celsius.

They added that Kokernag, in the same district, recorded a low temperature of 1.1 degrees Celsius, compared to minus 0.8 degrees Celsius the night before, and that the temperature was 1.7 degrees Celsius higher than usual for the area.

According to MeT authorities, the mercury reached 0.8 degrees Celsius in Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir, compared to 0 degrees the night before, with a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius above that.

They claimed that the low temperature in Kupwara, north Kashmir, was 2.2 degrees Celsius, which was 0.2 degrees Celsius above average and down from 1.1 degrees Celsius the night before.

According to MeT authorities, Jammu’s lowest temperature was 6.1 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees Celsius colder than the previous night’s reading of 7.1 degrees Celsius.

Batote recorded 1.7 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah recorded minus 0.2, and Banihal recorded 3.4 degrees Celsius.
