Oct. 16 in Srinagar: The Apple Farmers Federation of India (AFFI) has requested that producers in the Shopian and Kulgam districts who had their fruit harmed by yesterday’s severe hailstorm receive assistance right away.

Zahoorn Ahmad Rather, the President of AFFI, J&K, issued a statement calling for full compensation for impacted producers who sustained significant losses as a result of the severe hailstorm that caused havoc in Shopian, Kulgam, and other regions of the valley. So that the farmers may get compensation on time, the government should examine the losses right away.

Affirming that the producers would breathe a sigh of relief once the crop insurance programme was implemented, Abdul Rashid Itoo, General Secretary of AFFI at J&K, expressed disappointment over its non-implementation. According to him, the programme would protect fruit producers from damages brought on by natural disasters.
