There was a record turnout of 36.85 million people for Independence Day celebrations

“The flag would serve as a symbol of National Integration in the minds of the people of South Kashmir.”

Officials in the Anantnag district of the Union Territory announced on August 12 that the Jammu and Kashmir Police had unveiled a High-Mast National Flag there.

The Indian Police Service’s Deputy Inspector General for the South Kashmir Range, JK Police Rayees Mohammad Bhat, is credited for raising the country’s flag to its highest possible height above Anantnag.

Attendees also included Chairman Municipal Council Anantnag Hilal Ahmed Shah and Brigadier VSM, Cdr 1 Sect RR Amandeep Malhi.

In recognition of the “nationalistic sentiments” and “inclusive spirits” held by the people of the Anantnag district, authorities raised a national flag at Tango Top, Anantnag Highground, visible for up to 10 km in all directions.
