Delhi, New The Indian Air Force sent a C-17 aircraft to provide much-needed aid to the Palestinian people as a powerful show of unity and compassion. El Arish Airport in Egypt was the destination for a plane carrying emergency medical supplies weighing around 6.5 tonnes and other disaster relief goods weighing about 32 tonnes.

The shipment included an extensive variety of crucial commodities, including but not limited to: life-saving medications, surgical equipment, tents, sleeping bags, tarps, sanitary fixtures, and water purification tablets.

For almost two weeks, no aid reached the besieged Palestinians since all access roads were closed. Yesterday, relief workers at the Egyptian border crossing at Rafah began delivering supplies to Palestinians in need.

After over two weeks of tense waiting, a convoy of 20 assistance trucks finally made it to the besieged territory, bringing much-needed supplies to the distraught Palestinian people.

Twenty trucks were allowed passage into Gaza from Israel, as promised. However, there is serious cause for alarm because of a lack of both potable water and energy to run life-saving medical equipment. There is still an undeniable pressing need for reliable delivery of basic necessities such as food, water, medication, and fuel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke over the phone recently. During this conversation, Prime Minister Modi expressed his deepest sympathies for the victims of the attack on the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. He stressed India’s longstanding links to the Middle East and voiced grave worry over the rising tide of terrorist attacks and other atrocities, as well as the worsening security situation there. India’s Prime Minister Modi has restated his country’s moral and unwavering position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

When asked for his thoughts on the present situation, President Mahmoud Abbas addressed India, thanking the country for its assistance and praising its moral attitude. Prime Minister Modi responded by assuring President Abbas that India will maintain its commitment to the Palestinian people through humanitarian help. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of staying in touch and committed to doing so.

Modi had already shown his sadness for the deaths in Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital the day before. He expressed his horror at the deaths at Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital in a Facebook post: “Deeply shocked at the tragic loss of lives.” We send our deepest sympathies to the victims’ loved ones and our best wishes for a fast recovery to the wounded. Concern about civilian casualties is constant and significant. Those culpable ought to face consequences.”
