Under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam organised a series of women- and children-oriented activities on the themes ‘Suposhit Parivar’ and ‘Poshan Melas’ to sensitise the people and provide benefits of schemes to beneficiaries at their doorsteps on the occasion of Sankalp Saptah on October 4 in Block Khari in district Ramban covered under the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP).
The government’s Aspirational Block Development Programme was extended to the Gundi-Dhram, Ukhral, and Gandhri blocks, where similar events were held on days one and two. Javid Ahmed Manhas, Chair of the BDC, and other PRIs were also present for the events.

The Anaganwadi personnel measured the height and weight of youngsters, nursing mothers, and pregnant women (beneficiaries) at their Anganwadi centres and counselled them on how to lead healthier lives.

Meanwhile, Anganwadi Centres have started hosting celebrations of pregnancy and motherhood with events like the God-Bharai and Annaprashan Ceremony (also known as the Baby Shower Ceremony). The Annaprashan ritual involves dressing the newborn in traditional garb, having them sit on the lap of their mother, and feeding them their first solid meal, while the God-Bharai ceremony is conducted during pregnancy to pray for the health of the mother and baby to guarantee a healthy birth.

These events are All of the AWCs had Santulit Ahaar, where mothers and children were taught the significance of a healthy, well-balanced diet for the development of both the mother and the child.

A recipe contest including millets, a rainbow of colourful vegetables, and a discussion on the best methods for cultivating a kitchen garden were also on the agenda. Saplings of green and leafy vegetables were sown, and women and children were taught about the nutritional value of millets.
