Srinagar, December 2: On Saturday, the Chief Engineer, PMGSY Kashmir, visited Gawalta hamlet, which is near the Line of Control in the Uri region. The visit came a week after Greater Kashmir reported about the community’s lack of basic amenities, including the closure of a road that leads to it.

CE PMGSY Kashmir Tanvir Mir told Greater Kashmir, “I visited Gawalta village today, and the work on the closed road is expected to start within three days.”

Locals claim that the distance from the national highway to Gawalta hamlet is six kilometers. ” A landslide in 2014 destroyed around 300 meters of the section, although it hasn’t been rendered motorable yet. The chief engineer has now guaranteed that repairs on the damaged area will begin shortly, according to the village’s former Sarpanch, Nadeem Akbar Abbassi.

He said that in the past, the locals, particularly the local sick and expectant mothers, had to deal with hardships. “We are optimistic that things will get better once the road is fixed for traffic,” he stated, citing CE’s pledge.

Residents are appreciative of CE PMGSY Kashmir for inspecting the road and promising prompt repairs.
