The older Android handsets running Android OS versions 4.1 or earlier will no longer get support from WhatsApp. When the service is no longer supported, customers will no longer be able to get future app upgrades, and they will soon be unable to utilise the instant messaging programme on their mobile devices.
At the end of October 2023, WhatsApp will no longer provide support for outdated Android phones.
A few examples of these mobile devices include the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Nexus 7.

WhatsApp will no longer provide any additional updates, including those related to app security, for smartphones running obsolete operating systems.
WhatsApp’s platforms get frequent upgrades that include new features and security patches to enhance the user experience, as well as the platform’s users’ privacy and security. All versions of WhatsApp, including those for Android, iOS, and the web, get new system upgrades on an almost monthly basis in order to accommodate newer versions of operating systems. However, in order for WhatsApp to concentrate its efforts on the development of new technologies, the company will discontinue support for older versions of operating systems whenever it releases new updates for more modern operating systems.
